|Published: 5th December 2021 21:25|
The biggest name in Bitcoin and other crypto news has got to be Elon Musk. With many of his recent moves being best described as antics, he’s drawn the attention of just about everyone with his turbulent involvement with crypto market trends. However, he’s far from the only celebrity getting involved in crypto in varying capacities. These celebrities also have something to say, and we’ll let you judge whether that’s for better or for worse yourself.
Matt Damon’s Crypto Exchange Endorsement
One of the best-known stars in Hollywood today, Matt Damon, seems to have been spending a lot of the time in the lead-up to his latest film, The Last Duel, promoting Crypto.com. Damon appeared in a 60-second commercial introducing the platform, which states that its aim is to accelerate the transition of the world’s economy to cryptocurrencies.
This appearance comes after a donation of $1 million to Water.org, a non-profit organization co-founded by Damon in 2009. In addition to the commercial, Damon has spoken to various press outlets about his cooperation with Crypto.com, speaking highly of the platform and the ability of crypto, in general, to provide people with greater control over their finances and their future.
Crypto.com itself is a rapidly growing cryptocurrency exchange that offers a variety of user-friendly features. Its fees are generally low, and it has its own token (CRO) that can be staked for additional benefits. One of the primary selling points for the platform is how easy it is to transfer between fiat currencies and cryptocurrencies. In fact, they even have prepaid Visa cards that can be loaded through the exchange and earn crypto cashback based on how many tokens users have staked.
Snoop Dogg’s Status as an NFT Collector
Renowned rapper Snoop Dogg has recently revealed to his fans that he has been building quite the collection of non-fungible tokens (NFTs). These crypto-collectibles are the latest and greatest trend in blockchain technology, and Snoop Dogg is among the first notable figures to publicly reveal their involvement in this space.
Snoop Dogg has built up his portfolio under the pseudonym Cozomo De Medici, preserving his anonymity until he chose to come forward. His collection is estimated to be worth over $17 million, including 9 NFTs from the highly valued CryptoPunks collection, among a variety of other NFTs.
This development has clearly struck a chord with fans of both Snoop Dogg and NFTs. While the rapper’s actual Twitter account boasts a following of around 19 million, the alias account for the pseudonym under which he purchased the NFTs and made the initial public announcement of his involvement has grown to have nearly 50 million followers.
Mark Cuban’s Insights Into the Future of Ethereum
Outspoken owner of the Dallas Mavericks and world-famous investor Mark Cuban might not have made the same splash in crypto speculation that Elon Musk has, but he’s among the top contenders. In fact, during the heyday of the Dogecoin hype, Cuban allowed fans to purchase Dallas Mavericks tickets and merchandise using Dogecoin through BitPay.
Today, Cuban has honed his focus onto Ethereum, the second-largest cryptocurrency after Bitcoin. With an all-time high on November 10th still fresh in everyone’s minds, Ethereum seems to be the talk of the town. Cuban believes that the utility of Ethereum makes it stand out compared to other cryptocurrencies, with opportunities for DeFi, NFTs, and other innovative applications of smart contract technology.
While Cuban’s crypto investing covers an incredibly broad range of mainstream and altcoins, NFTs, and blockchain technology companies, he says that he strongly believes in the long-term growth potential of Ethereum more so than other options. It’s also worth pointing out that celebrities and wealth Gurus like Mark Cuban are used to promote crypto scams like the most recent Bitcoin Prime which was recently exposed by a cryptocurrency review website named Scam Crypto Robots.
Celebrities Continue to Cash in on Crypto Trends
Of course, there are many, many more celebrities involved in crypto to lesser degrees as well. Numerous celebrities appear in advertisements for exchanges, crypto ATMs, and other ventures, with recent examples including Tom Brady, Spike Lee, and Neil Patrick Harris.
One of the largest overall influxes of celebrity involvement in crypto has been in NFTs. It’s relatively simple for celebrities to develop NFTs, and their names can carry a lot of weight in this area. Some of the most prominent examples of celebrities with NFT collections include Grimes, William Shatner, Paris Hilton, and UFC heavyweight champion Francis Ngannou.
